Ladies and gentlemen, our 3rd episode of Allow Me to Reintroduce myself!

TSAVO LAUNDRY

This week have the story of Martha Inyuma starting all the way from Orange County by TSAVO, our hostel in Athi River to Royal Suburbs in Roysambu

The Laundromat was really inspired by me not liking to wash my clothes. The idea started back in 2017 when I was in campus at Daystar Athi River. I was living in Orange County by TSAVO and I realized that amongst all the many things that we had, there was one solution that we lacked and that was laundry.  This idea was perfect considering people there at that time had already adopted the TSAVO like culture.

By the time I left Daystar, I had really understood this business and knew what it takes to run it. I joined TSAVO and Royal Suburbs was completed. I then figured that this is a concept that I would love to push through with. The journey, as any other business, has not been the smoothest and you have to ensure you have the right people working with you. John, who is currently there, has really owned the business and is very passionate about our customers ensuring they are all delighted with every interaction.

I managed to get funding from Kate Actress who had started a foundation looking for youth who are business oriented which I applied for and managed to get. To any TSAVORITE thinking of starting a business and does not know where to start, I would love to encourage you to look across different platforms if you are looking for funding and just start it within TSAVO. Don’t overthink it. Here there is a great platform that can really support you!

TSAVO has given me an opportunity to not only provide this service to the residents but also impact lives of those working at TSAVO Laundry here in Royal Suburbs and for this I am very grateful.

Advice to the young investor

From an amazing performance at the TSAVO Open Mic!🔥 Cedz Imagination!

Satisfaction is a very bizarre phenomenon in human lives. It’s really bumfuzzling that what we really want to have at some point eventually loses value as soon as we get it and turns out that we could do without it. This cuts across emotions, desires, material things, social segmentation and other unfathomable aspects of our lifestyles. Research shows that human action is a pure casting and imitation of one’s environment; pivoted around the actions of our idols with vivid admiration projected on our lives with subjective epitome of perfection, and we’d often be trying to be like, tying to look like, trying to act like so and so. Most people tend to confuse this with competition. You remember the time you really wanted to have an iPhone? Now look at you, playing snake Xenzia and temple run on it. You thought you’d be receiving business calls and economy briefing like a president now that you have an iPhone 13? Oops, my bad. Anyway, that’s the matrix that shells human behavior and what influences their perceptions towards reality.

My entire life at this time was taking a new course. I had a list of friends to change – if not then cut off; schedules to alter, items to purchase and habits to halt. I had to change how I see life in very many aspects. I had financial routines that I had to desist. The preponderant effect of bills on my routines was inevitable. I had to be organized. The whole analogy of presentability and image was predominantly booming in my head. I had to redefine my locus of life, and not just define, but making sure that everything is aligned to what I had thought of when I first moved into this B205 apartment. I had a history to make, picking from where my parents had left. I had my papers, not those that could match Professor Magoha’s, but at least qualifications that could fill a 3-page resume, even if it means having the last two pages full of hobbies and tittle-tattled referees. I had to alienate my life from any form of solitude and boredom and focus on building myself. Spending the whole day in the house wasn’t going to settle my bills.

I had to design my life and look like the apartment I was in. The unwanted tu small-small behaviors I was raised with had to be dropped. You guys know those tu behaviors of bachelors and bachelorettes when they are locked alone. You know that one sock that does the cleaning of utensil and tomorrow you see me wearing it in Dundas. They are called multi-purpose items that come right just when you need them. That old T-shirt of yours that sucks water so well that you don’t think of a mopper anymore. I had a lot of learning: how to cook, how to plan my day, even how to avoid taking lunch and how to coax a lady next door to come for lunch in your studio was part of my learning process. ‘How to’ was the word of the day… to be continued.
